What if you're standing still?


I heard, long ago, that moving on foot over a given distance takes the same amount of energy walking as it does running. Now there's new research which says that walking slowly consumes more calories than walking fast, at least if you're obese.

The research also discovered that the obese are more efficient walkers than others. Maybe that's one reason for the obesity — efficiency can have its downside, I guess.
